One of the joys of the new series, for me, has been the spot-on performances of The Master. Every actor who has played them has absolutely nailed it.

Dr who is a long time comfort watch for me.Chibnall also more or less comprehensively removed other time lords (beyond the master) and gallifrey from the board -- re-establishing the Doctor as the last of the time lords that the 2005 series started with -- a smart choice, honestly. They really are the worst. Legitimately as bad as Daleks in a lot of ways.
He also paid off the Cartmel master plan -- the doctor is more than just another time lord. But the doctor's MOM is The Other, not the Doctor themself. Clever!

Dr who is a long time comfort watch for me.Tonight I rewatched the 50th multi doctor story (with 10, 11, and the war doctor, and Clara and sort of Rose). And then I rewatched the Timeless Children.
Say what you want about the Chibnall era, but he was trying new stuff.
In particular, he managed the first (canonical) female doctor, but ALSO the first black doctor (the fugitive doctor) AND established that the doctor was found as a girl child. And had several non-white regenerations back then.

I've been consuming and thinking about the whoniverse since I was about 11 (I'm mid 50s now), so it's pretty deeply baked in there by now, for all its flaws.
Because it is of course not perfect. 6 trying to strangle Peri is a particular low point, narratively speaking.
