@FeloniousPunk I was thinking this the other day. Modern cars seldom if ever backfire---unless the idiot owner chooses for them to do so. So what exactly is the point of choosing to do that except to be a deliberate asshole? And quite a few people in my neighborhood *do* make that ridiculous choice.
